Strategic Sourcing Manager Detroit, Michigan c$110,000 - $125,000

 

A Global manufacturing group are growing and looking to hire a Strategic Sourcing Manager to their team based in the Northern Suburbs of Detroit.

 

Reporting to the Global Supply Chain Director and working collaboratively with Purchasing teams in the UK and US you will lead and deliver sourcing solutions to support ambitious growth.

Responsibilities will include:

 

  • Work closely with the UK Purchasing Manager to prioritize and execute sourcing initiatives that support the UK operation’s material strategy, cost targets and supply continuity objectives.
  • Collaborate with the US Purchasing Manager to align sourcing decisions with operational requirements, lead?times and performance expectations for US manufacturing.
  • Provide strategic sourcing guidance to the UK and US Buyers to ensure improvement / change activities are fully leveraged by operational purchasing.
  • Participate in cross?functional project teams to support NPI, engineering changes and supply chain risk mitigation initiatives.
  • Define, drive and deliver cost reduction through negotiation, value engineering and supplier change initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Product Development / Engineering and Production to optimize material specifications, simplify components and their supply chains to reduce the total cost of ownership.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to reduce waste, improve material utilization and leverage the benefit of long term commercial agreements.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key strategic suppliers across North America.
  • Lead supplier performance reviews covering cost, quality, delivery, capability growth and risk.
  • Drive supplier development initiatives, including capability and capacity improvements, process standardization and value engineering opportunities.
  • Assess supply chain risks across categories, suppliers and regions and develop mitigation plans that support operational continuity.
  • Work with Production, Quality and Compliance teams to ensure suppliers meet Group standards, including regulatory and industry specific requirements.
  • Maintain a global view of geopolitical, logistical and market driven risks impacting material availability or cost.

 

This role will suit a strategic Procurement / Buying professional with previous experience working in a Manufacturing or Engineering environment. You will have strong Direct Materials / Commodities experience and will have ideally worked with Purchasing teams on a Global basis. CIPS level 6 / ISM Professional qualification would be an advantage.
